Congratulations to angel investor Micky Arison and his Heat for bringing Miami its first championship trophy since Micky and his father brought the team to Miami in 1988. (Box Score)
Of course Dwayne Wade was fantastic and deserved the Finals MVP trophy that he hoisted after the game. But, in my eyes, the true hero of the series was Alonzo Mourning who finished tonight's game with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocked shots, and a rim-rocking dunk over Eric Dampier (I think?) that probably made his mother cry -- and he did it in only 11.5 minutes of playing time.
Mourning is a true warrior. Last season he made an unthinkable return to the NBA following a kidney transplant. This year, the former All-Star humbly accepted the role of backup to Shaquille O'Neal and nearly lead the NBA in blocked shots despite playing only 20 minutes per game.
Hats off to Zo, Mickey, and the Miami Heat!
