You might be an entrepreneur if ...

A little entrepreneur trivia ...

The
Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has done some research on what makes an individual more likely to be entrepreneurial, and here's what they found:

You don't need to be a college grad, well-organized, or driven by money to be an entrepreneur.

You're more likely to be entrepreneurial if
  • You're left handed
  • You're an immigrant
  • You were self-employed by the time you were 20
  • One of your parents were self-employed for a long time
  • You're the oldest child in your family
  • You have two or more children
  • You have been fired more than once

I am not left handed. So, I guess I will not be good at it. I agree with the basic idea that if you many obstacles you are likely to be an entrepreneur.

Hi Jeff, I checked both PDF reports from the Kaufmann site and didn't find the stats on left-handedness, having children, or the "self-employed by 20" part. I have heard that children of self-employed people are more likely to be self-employed.

The most interesting little tidbit from the report is the rate of entrepreneurship for the country as a whole is 0.29%, (290 individuals per 100,000 adults).

I read your "if" and I agree with you. I do not see any connection between entrepreneur skills and left handed. The rest of the list is plausible.

I am totally agree with what. I saw a lot of examples in real life. I respect those people who succeeded. It is a mentality problem first of all. Than it is an attitude problem. Not to mention that statistics never lie...!

There are many "if'" and "maybe" for being an entrepreneur but most of people are born with some skills and they just have to discover them and believe that they can do that special thing. Basicly what you have to do is to believe in yourself. As Monica said i can not see the relevance of being a left handed.
